Modawa Institute
Library and e-Learning hub
A Growing Resource for Academic, Spiritual, and Professional Formation
The Modawa Institute Library and E-Learning Hub are essential pillars of student success and academic life at Modawa. Serving all students from the Schools of Theology, Teaching, and Nursing, these spaces provide access to physical and digital resources that support coursework, research, and vocational preparation.

The Library
The Modawa Institute Library currently holds over 14,000 volumes, with a strong foundation in Melanesian theology and history. While this reflects the Institute’s historical roots, the library is now growing into a multidisciplinary academic resource that supports our broader mission as a Higher Education Institution registered with DHERST in Papua New Guinea.
Recent developments include:
The addition of over 1,000 new books for teacher education in the past year.
Ongoing expansion to support the School of Teaching, and soon to be adding resources for School of Nursing and community health.
The e-Learning hub
The E-Learning Hub complements the library by providing access to digital tools that enhance study and research.
Dedicated desktops are available for students who do not own laptops, ensuring inclusive access to technology.
Students can use the E-Learning Hub to search the library catalogue, research online, and complete assignments.
A printing and scanning station is available. All USB and external devices must be scanned for viruses before use to protect the network.
While a full Moodle system has not yet been deployed, the E-Learning Hub sets the foundation for future online learning platforms and blended learning models at the Institute.
All ICT usage in the Hub follows the Modawa Institute ICT Policy, promoting responsible, safe, and academically focused engagement with technology.
