The Bishop Newton

School of Theology

Welcome to the Bishop Newton School of Theology

Rooted in a century-long tradition of faith and service, the Bishop Newton School of Theology carries forward the legacy of Newton Theological College—an institution that has faithfully formed generations of Anglican clergy since its earliest days in Papua New Guinea. From its foundations at Dogura to its growth in Popondetta, the school has been a cornerstone of theological training and spiritual leadership in the Anglican Church.

Now part of the Modawa Institute of Higher Education, established in 2024, the School continues to shape faithful, thoughtful, and resilient leaders for the Church and the nation. As we look to the future, the Bishop Newton School of Theology remains deeply committed to the Gospel mission: to preach, to teach, and to serve. Grounded in Scripture, tradition, and community, we are preparing a new generation to carry the light of Christ into every corner of society.
